Get Involved
Our goal is to provide a basic understanding and overview of Steps of Hope proving Peer Support Services.
Prospective Volunteers:
Steps of Hope offers HOPE through peer support, mentoring and coaching. We are seeking dedicated volunteers to support women, families, and friends affected by abuse.
Your passion is crucial for providing emotional support, community linkage, and encouragement to survivors transitioning from abuse.
Are you a college student needing an internship? We invite you to join us!
Would you like to donate a meal or help plan events? We need your support!
Are you compassionate and interested in facilitating peer groups? We look forward to hearing from you!
We offer comprehensive training to equip you for your role. Prioritizing your emotional well-being is essential. Establishing self-care routines and having a strong support system in place will help you maintain a healthy balance while supporting others.

By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of women seeking support. Your dedication to ongoing core competency training and self-care practices will contribute to the overall well-being of both the participants and you.

Once onboarded, volunteers will receive ongoing support and mentorship to further enhance their abilities and ensure they feel confident in their roles. This continuous guidance creates a sense of a supportive community among the volunteers, as well as keeps the quality and effectiveness of the peer support group.
If you are compassionate, empathetic, and dedicated to empowering women, we encourage you to consider becoming a volunteer at our HOPE. Your commitment will make a significant difference in the lives of the participants, and the ongoing support and mentorship will help you grow both personally and professionally.
A volunteer handbook and training will be provided once volunteers pass a background check.
Perspective Volunteer Expectations:
(we are not licensed, counselors)
Peers
We are not counselors or professionals. We are mindful that the experts are the
participants in their healing journeys. We are all at different levels of healing and our
peers. We rely on Jesus Christ for comfort and healing only he can provide.
Integrity
Respect the confidentiality of what is shared in our meetings. What happens at HOPE stays at HOPE.
Faithful
As a faith-based support group, we pray, nourish our relationship with Christ, and attend church body for our spiritual growth. We have pastoral guidance from the Holy Spirit. Our faith is not to be pushed on others; We meet them where they are and rely
on Jesus to work through us.
Communication
Ongoing communication with the team, bi-weekly touch base, monthly meetings, quarterly responsibilities, and tasks. Forms of communication: Email, in-person meetings, share drive, and phone text.
Commitment
Regular attendance can provide a sense of security for our participants. That does not mean you must attend every week. It means you will make participation in HOPE a priority.
Personal Development
Our volunteers and leaders look for continued growth through education, attending training related to trauma-centered approaches, and participation in workshops. This helps us understand ourselves while we are providing support for others.
Honorable
HOPE is about cultivating an environment of growth as we equip and empower one
another. We strive to create a safe space as we become a part of their journey. Growth
creates a path to move forward. We honor their decisions with love.
Self-Care
We encourage and provide referrals for professional help and support for volunteers when we need it. Taking care of oneself and recognizing personal triggers balances us as we provide support. Check-in with yourself and be aware of your warning signs.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us to the possibility of joining hands with you as we create a space where survivors transitioning from abuse thrive in a supportive and caring community.
