Where Steps of Hope Started
Steps of Hope, Inc. began with a vision to create a safe haven for individuals who have faced similar traumatic experiences. Claudia Stephens established this organization because she encountered challenges stemming from childhood abuse and repeating negative patterns of behavior. Without her husband’s encouragement or love, she would not have shared her vision with her pastor, who supported and prayed for her. She received his blessing to launch “Healing Our Past and Present Experiences (H.O.P.E.).” Since 2018, H.O.P.E. has been a place for survivors to find healing within the community. Grateful for Reynoldsburg Community Church, The Center for Safety and Healing, and their collaboration, along with other women who believed in the vision and linked arms to volunteer their time and hosted our initial groups there.

Through trauma-informed peer services, we partner with women transitioning from abuse to heal, reclaim their strength, and step boldly into their purpose.
Our Vision
We exist to support women heal from the lasting effects of abuse, break destructive cycles, promote emotional and social wellbeing – contributing to the restoration of families and strengthening communities.
Our Approach
- Aftercare: Safe spaces and support for long-term healing, no matter how many years have passed.
- Intervention: Breaking patterns of harm and guiding women to safety and stability.
- Prevention: Educating, equipping, and strengthening families and communities to end the cycle of abuse.

Through our emotional, social, and advocacy services, we serve as a guiding light for survivors of domestic abuse and trauma as we heal in community.
