Daryn Hunt

LISW-S

My name is Daryn Hunt, LISW-S, licensed social worker who graduated with a BS from LSU in 1989 and an MSW degree from OSU in 1996. Early in her career, Daryn made home visits in communities to keep children in the home by working with the whole family. Daryn moved to Dallas, Tx in 1997 and continued the same home visiting therapy until maternity leave in 1999. Daryn became a mom and worked in the capacity of a contract therapist until moving back to Columbus, OH area in 2004. Daryn became employed at a juvenile jail for over 9 years. During that time, she was trained in Trauma-informed Care to help children and families that participated in family counseling.

Daryn moved to Franklin County jail for 3 years to continue caring for those mentally ill while incarcerated. Finally, Daryn has served as a case manager to an insurance company to help members understand and use their benefits as well as take care of their medical and mental health needs. A major achievement has been overcoming her own trauma in learning to scuba dive from a Vietnam War Veteran.  In 2016, Daryn was recognized by Ohio State for being awarded the MSWI Field Instructor of the Year. She is a mom to a Marine, a college student, and a high school student. In her spare time, Daryn likes to connect with friends whether kayaking, diving, or sitting on a beach and reading.
